What a better way to spend your afternoon then with breathtaking views over Crichton Estate & scrumptious afternoon tea.
The Holiday Inn Dumfries is a magical wedding venue located within 100 acres of the Crichton Estate.
Beautiful surroundings, clean, comfortable and classic upscale rooms. Located within the Crichton estate of Dumfries it is a gem!! The hotel combines a classic building in the front with a modern background building. The classic building houses an upscale restaurant and a bar. The restaurant serves excellent food, although a bit on the expensive side!! So if you are in the area do not hesitate to stay!! I stayed with my daughter who is attending the University of Glasgow Dumfries Campus situated in the same estate. Room Tip: Rooms on the western and northern side have good views!!
Stayed for 1 night at the holiday inn. It was a business trip so didn’t see much of surroundings. The room was so comfortable nice to look at and spotless. The beds so comfy with a choice of cushions. I stayed on the ground floor which overlooked a lovely grassy area with a view of the beautiful church.
The breakfast was tasty, warm, help yourself so can have as much has you like. But great staff serving you coffee and taking plates away.
I would recommend this hotel and only wish I was there longer.
Friendly staff and excellent restaurant wheelers a special mention for the waiter michael who was excellent, food was very nice also a superb location, Paul and Lorraine county Durham we would definitely return.
Myself & my husband have been visiting this hotel every month for a while now (we have home renovations going on). I can honestly say the staff, rooms, grounds & service are fantastic. We were there during the “hot” summer evenings and would’ve appreciated air conditioning we received a fan on our second day as all were out on first day.
Having never been to Dumfries I searched around the internet and found the Aston hotel which looked to be a very nice building and had very good reports from previous visitors. We were certainly NOT disappointed and stayed for two nights. The room was on the ground floor overlooking the gardens, it was very well furnished with a settee and a very comfortable king-sized bed. We ate dinner in the restaurant on both evenings, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. If we ever go to Dumfries again we will certainly make a beeline for the Aston
What a wonderful short break! Having stayed the previous year on an organised tour we were keen to return and to enjoy the hotel at a more leisurely pace. Excellent rooms and accommodation with the added benefit of a Marco Pierre White restaurant. Most important of all were the staff who were unfailingly pleasant and helpful making our stay a very pleasurable holiday.
We´ve booked a DFDS Seaways Scotland Tour and our first stay was at the Aston Hotel. A quiet and peaceful site located in a beautiful park. The room was comfortable, we could watch our MGB from the window and the Restaurant was first class with a really friendly and kind service. The three course meal was delicious and we had a very nice evening and a wonderful Breakfast in the morning.
this was gift of 2 nights B/B .The place once we found it was clean and tidy …the reason it was difficult to find is that it is now a Holiday Inn…… The origin al Hotel is an old building and most impressive .It is the grounds of The Crichton and is wonderful for a walk after dinner .Although it is a Holiday Inn the restaurant is above average. The room was O.K. but pretty basic . We went across the raod to the local goldf course and had dinner which was very good and great value ffor money .The lady runniing it was wonderful
Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds for a tranquil stroll before breakfast or after dinner!! Staff very helpful and friendly!! Ate both evenings in the Marco Pierre White Restaurant – food and service first class!!
Discovered that the Aston is now a Holiday Inn from Monday 16 June so finding the hotel was confusing !!
Hope the high standards are not compromised by the change !! Only time will tell!! Would certainly stay here again as it is an ideal location to chill and use as a base for a leisurely break
Thank you to Emma who works on reception for arranging our stay. The Holiday Inn has just taken over this hotel and it is in my opinion going to be one of their best in Scotland. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The Marco Pierre restaurant where we had our breakfast was excellent. The hotel stands in the ground of The Crichton campus and the surroundings are breathtaking. We shall certainly return again.
